Release time:2024-01-03Views:38

Institutional Profile

The Electromagnetic and Electronic Technology Research Institute was established in 2003, building upon the legacy of the Electrical Engineering Department founded in 1952, one of the earliest disciplines in China dedicated to the study of special electrical machines. The institute is associated with the primary discipline of Electrical Engineering and the pivotal sub-discipline of Electrical Machines and Apparatuses.

Currently, the institute boasts a full-time staff of 17, including 10 professors, 4 associate professors, and 3 assistant professors/postdoctoral fellows. It also houses one national-level high-level talent and three national-level high-level talents (youth).

Renowned for its robust scientific research capabilities, the institute has consistently prioritized national strategic requirements and sought to remain at the forefront of global science and technology. Its research focus lies in the domain of special electrical machine systems, encompassing fundamental theories, design methodologies, drive control, testing and assessment, and practical applications within this field. The institute has spearheaded over 100 national and provincial-level projects, ranging from key national R&D programs to Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s specialized initiatives, and major projects commissioned by national ministries. Furthermore, it has made significant strides in cutting-edge areas such as electric vehicle electric drive systems, motor cloud computing and supercomputing design platforms, and special vehicle electric transmission systems. The institute has been recognized with over 40 accolades and awards, including the National Technology Invention Second Prize and the Heilongjiang Province Technology Invention First Prize. Moreover, the institute plays a leading role in the Ministry of Education Key Laboratory of Electric Drive and Electric Propulsion Technology and the Heilongjiang Province Key Laboratory of Advanced Power and Energy Systems for New Energy Vehicles. It is also actively involved in five national-level and provincial-level platforms, including the National Key Laboratory of Robotics Technology and Systems and the National Key Laboratory of Hydraulic Turbine and Generator Sets. Additionally, it maintains its own research team specializing in special electrical machines and their intelligent computing within Heilongjiang Province.

Research directions

1. Electric propulsion and electric propulsion technologies.

We aim to explore new materials, devices, functional electric propulsion systems, as well as digital twins and state monitoring. Our primary goal is to meet the growing demands for high efficiency, reliability, power density, and multifunctionality in the field.

2. Intelligent computation and supercomputing platform for electric motors.

By leveraging supercomputing capabilities and implementing fully autonomous control, we aim to address the lack of software and hardware resources in the field of electric motor optimization design. This platform is designed to optimize the performance of electric motors and fill the gaps in China’s current electric motor optimization design sector.

3. Electric drive technology for high-end specialty vehicles.

We aim to integrate different technologies to create efficient and reliable electric drive systems specifically tailored for specialty vehicles. Our research aims to overcome technological blockades from foreign sources and adaptability challenges in extreme operating conditions.

4. Specialty Electric Propulsion and Energy Storage Conversion Technology.

In pursuit of advancements in specialty electric propulsion and energy storage conversion technology, we investigate various aspects of electromechanical energy conversion. This includes researching high-speed and ultra-high-speed motor systems, pulse generator systems, integrated electric drive systems, and electric motors for fully electric aircraft. Our objective is to develop solutions that cater to the specific requirements of different scenarios where electromechanical energy conversion is crucial.

5. Battery management and wireless charging technology.

Our research delves into understanding the thermal runaway and propagation mechanisms of battery systems. Additionally, we focus on performing lifecycle health diagnosis and lifespan prediction for batteries. Key technological advancements in this area include the integration of vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology, which complements multiple power sources and new energy vehicles, as well as wireless power transmission efficiency.
