HIT EE School Delegation Visit International Energy Agency (IEA)

Invited by China Project Department of the International Energy Agency (IEA) and supported by HIT Funding Program of International Organization, a delegation from the School of Electrical Engineering (EE), Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) visited IEA from July 19 to 23, 2026, in Paris, France. Led by Associate Professor Wang Yanmin, together with graduate students Zhou Qiuying and Wang Zhangshujun, the delegation carried out a series of seminars and discussions to foster a sustainable long-term cooperation framework between HIT, EE school and IEA.

During their stay, the HIT delegation held in-depth thematic talks with IEA’s specialist teams. The two sides exchanged insights on a suite of cutting-edge energy research priorities: the development of novel power systems, the development and deployment of renewable energy, power grid energy efficiency enhancement, and stability control technologies for grid-connected new energy assets. The delegation showcased the achievements of EE school in source-grid-load-storage coordinated operation as well as grid-forming energy storage control technologies. In return, IEA experts presented global energy transition policies and real-world power system transformation case studies from nations worldwide, followed by a roundtable exchange on prospective research frontiers within the sector.

Thematic deliberations between HIT and the IEA

This faculty-student delegations visit to the IEA represents a landmark initiative of HIT EE School to advance internationalized talent training and encourage its academic community to engage with leading intergovernmental organizations. Direct engagement with a world-class energy authority allowed delegation members to gain first-hand perspectives on global energy transition trajectories, greatly expanding their international academic outlook and sharpening their cross-cultural communication competencies. Moving forward, HIT EE School will continue to capitalize on international collaborative platforms to nurture high-level power and energy professionals equipped with comprehensive global vision..
