On April 3, Ye Xuerong, Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering and Automation at Harbin Institute of Technology, and his delegation visited the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronic Technology at Tsinghua University (hereinafter referred to as “Tsinghua’s Department of Electrical Engineering”) for an investigation and also visited the National Energy Administration. At Tsinghua University’s Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronic Technology, the symposium was chaired by Zheng Zedong, Party Secretary of the department.
At the meeting, Dean Ye Xuerong introduced the college’s overall work, elaborating in detail on its historical evolution, discipline layout, teaching staff composition, scientific research platforms, landmark achievements in serving China’s national energy strategy, and key initiatives outlined in the 14th Five-Year Plan period. Subsequently, Zheng Zedong presented an overview of Tsinghua University’s Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronic Technology, systematically covering its historical development, discipline structure, faculty profile, scientific research bases, and international cooperation efforts. Li Shisong, Assistant Director of the department, introduced its scientific research activities—with emphasis on research directions, major scientific research projects, and representative achievements. Zhang Ling, a member of the department’s Party Committee and Head of the Student Affairs Group, presented student-related work, detailing its organizational framework and distinctive practices in ideological and political education, science and technology activities, and employment guidance.
During the exchange session, participants from both sides held in-depth discussions on interdisciplinary collaboration, joint scientific research projects, professional development of young faculty, international exchanges, Party building, and student affairs.
Ye Xuerong noted that the School of Electrical Engineering and Automation at Harbin Institute of Technology shares deep historical ties with Tsinghua University’s Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronic Technology, and expressed hope that this exchange would serve as a catalyst to advance bilateral cooperation in co-building scientific research platforms, faculty exchange, and student training. Zheng Zedong emphasized that both departments possess complementary strengths and proposed establishing a regularized communication mechanism to jointly contribute to technological breakthroughs and high-quality talent cultivation in China’s electrical engineering field.

Subsequently, Ye Xuerong and his delegation visited the National Energy Administration to hold discussions with responsible officials from relevant departments and bureaus. Ye Xuerong reported on Harbin Institute of Technology’s research foundation in supporting China’s national energy strategy, new power system construction, and new energy technologies—as well as the department’s key priorities under the 14th Five-Year Plan.
