On June 11, Yu Yan, Assistant General Manager of Jiangnan Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Jiangnan Shipbuilding”) and President of the Jiangnan Research Institute, and his delegation visited the school for an exchange. The symposium was chaired by Ye Xuerong, Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering and Automation.
Yu Yan highly praised the School of Electrical Engineering’s century-old heritage and outstanding achievements, and noted that the shipboard electrical system is a core component of high-end marine equipment—directly affecting the safety, operational stability, and intelligence level of vessel operations. Jiangnan Shipbuilding leverages its profound industrial expertise and rich engineering application scenarios, consistently advancing technological innovation to lead industrial development. Establishing a joint laboratory with Harbin Institute of Technology represents a strategic initiative for the enterprise to address technical gaps and strengthen core competitiveness. He expressed hope that both sides would continue leveraging their respective strengths, collaborate closely, align efforts, and utilize the joint laboratory platform to tackle industry-critical technical challenges.
Ye Xuerong welcomed Jiangnan Shipbuilding’s delegation and introduced the school’s overall development, discipline construction, scientific research teams, and platforms. He emphasized that the college has consistently aligned its work with major national needs, deeply cultivated scientific research and talent training in the field of electrical engineering, and actively pursued school–enterprise cooperation with Jiangnan Shipbuilding—a concrete example of university research forces serving the shipbuilding industry’s development. Moving forward, the college will fully leverage its advantages in scientific research, talent, and technology; adhere to demand-driven and problem-oriented approaches; focus on overcoming bottlenecks in core ship technologies; and vigorously promote the integration of research outcomes with actual shipbuilding practice—to generate technologically impactful achievements and distinctive cooperative highlights.
Wang Zhigang, Director of the Institute of Electrical Equipment at Jiangnan Research Institute; Zhou Liang, Director of the Institute of Cabin Environment; Liu Haiqing, Chief Engineer; Xu Guoxian and Xu Min, Deputy Chief Engineers; Dr. Zhao Chenyao; and Designer Gu Junyu attended the symposium. Duan Jiandong and Professor Sun Li, Assistant Deans of the School of Electrical Engineering and Automation at Harbin Institute of Technology, also attended the symposium.
