HIT Initiates Construction of National Energy R&D Innovation Platform, Pioneering Breakthroughs

The launch ceremony for the establishment of the National Energy Research and Development Innovation Platform, which was led by our university and State Grid Heilongjiang Provincial Power Co., Ltd., took place on October 21st in Room 301 of the Activity Center 301. During the ceremony, speeches were delivered by Chen Su, Secretary of the Party Group and Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Heilongjiang Province, Ji Huizheng, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and General Manager of State Grid Heilongjiang Provincial Power Co., Ltd., and Liu Ting, Vice President of our university.

Chen Su expressed the hope that the platform’s leading and constructing units would work together to fully implement the important speeches and instructions given by General Secretary Xi Jinping during his visit to Heilongjiang Province. The goal is to accelerate the construction of collaborative innovation mechanisms, effectively gather innovative resources, promote breakthroughs in key core technologies, expedite the transfer and transformation of high-quality scientific and technological achievements, and contribute to the comprehensive revitalization of industries led by science and technology innovation in Heilongjiang. Additionally, Chen Su emphasized the need to inject more new vitality into the progress of cold region’s new power system technology and the rapid development of the energy industry in our country.

Ji Huizheng, as the co-leading unit of the platform, stated that they would strengthen collaboration with the constructing units. Efforts would be made to establish a top-notch research team and build an open, cooperative, and shared innovation platform. The platform will focus on conducting in-depth research on common key technologies, cutting-edge leading technologies, and modern engineering technologies. The aim is to achieve more breakthroughs in technological innovation and their transformation applications. Mr. Ji also emphasized the positive contributions the platform will make to actively promote the high-quality development of the energy and power industry in Northeast China, as well as continuously enhance the contribution and influence of power technology innovation.

Liu Ting emphasized that HIT is committed to fully implementing the important speeches and instructions given by General Secretary Xi Jinping. The university will wholeheartedly support the construction of the platform and leverage the energy resources in Northeast China. Their objective is to “assemble a dedicated innovation team” in the fields of energy security and power system research, especially focusing on promoting technological advancements in the power and energy industry in cold regions of China. This initiative aims to accelerate Heilongjiang’s progress in developing new productive forces and contribute to the comprehensive revitalization and sustainable development of the energy industry in Northeast China.

After the launch ceremony, a meeting was conducted to discuss the platform construction plan. The session was chaired by Chen Weijiang, who serves as the Director of the Academic Committee of the platform and is also an Academician of the State Grid Corporation. Xu Dianguo, the platform leader and a professor from our university’s School of Electrical Engineering, presented the construction plan. During the meeting, participating experts engaged in thorough discussions on the construction plan. They recognized the platform’s clear positioning, specific goals, unique features, and advantages in terms of research and development directions. The experts acknowledged the use of advanced and feasible technological strategies, the rational selection of demonstration projects with high potential for replication, and the presence of experienced construction teams. Additionally, they provided valuable suggestions to further enhance the platform construction.

 Keynote speeches were delivered by experts and scholars from various prestigious institutions, including Tsinghua University, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Wuhan University, Huairou Laboratory, North China University of Technology, and our university.

The event was attended by leaders of the platform construction unit, representatives from relevant enterprises, universities, research institutions, as well as experts, scholars, and student representatives.

The National Energy Research and Development Innovation Platform is focused on the construction of new energy systems in cold regions of our country. It aims to address the innovative needs of the new power system in extreme environments, ensure livelihood security, and promote diversified energy supply. The platform takes full advantage of the expertise and specialization in intelligent manufacturing, power energy, and other related fields. Its main objectives include the development of major technological equipment, transformation of achievements, implementation of demonstration projects, and support for major energy engineering constructions. Additionally, it aims to establish a comprehensive collaborative talent training system, an innovation-driven collaboration mechanism, a multi-level collaboration model, and a reliable operational and guarantee mechanism for innovation platforms. By doing so, it seeks to overcome the obstacles faced by the new power grid series in cold regions and contribute to the accelerated development of our country towards becoming a global energy powerhouse.
